S.T.O.P! TIPLINE …REPORT BULLYING “ONLINE”

McLean County Public Schools proudly announces the implementation of the “Safety Tipline Online Prevention” or STOP! Tipline.   The STOP! Tipline is designed for use as an "online" reporting/prevention tool which is provided free by the Kentucky Center for School Safety.   If students, parents or community members know of an unsafe situation in school (bullying, weapons, drugs or alcohol, etc.), they can anonymously pass on that information to school personnel by using this basic email format.

Freshman Orientation

McLean County High School will offer a freshman orientation on Thursday July 31 from 6:00-7:30. Orientation will start in the auditorium at 6:00pm. Incoming freshman and their parents are invited to attend orientation to hear general information about expectations of high school and what to expect as a freshman entering high school. Students will have opportunities to go to all their classes, find their locker, and ask questions. We encourage all incoming freshman and their parents to attend freshman orientation.


Physicals for Incoming 6th graders

Don't forget to have your physical and immunizations before school starts.  The McLean County Health Department is sponsoring two days for 6th grade physicals:

July 23, 2014:  4:00-7:00pm

July 30, 2014:  8:30-11:30am

Rock-A-Teens host farewell party for Foreign exchange student

 

 

Kentucky State Senator Joe Bowen presents the Kentucky Colonel Award to Yuitan Chen at her "Farewell Party" on Thursday May 15th at New China Buffet in Owensboro Kentucky. The party was sponsored by the Rock-A-Teens. The Kentucky Colonel is the highest award that the Governor of Kentucky can award to an individual. Notable past winners include Johnny Depp, Ashley Judd, Colonel Harlan Sanders (KFC), Elvis Presley, among many others


MCHS Places Big At STLP State Championships

On Tuesday April 26th, 10 McLean County High School students attended the STLP (Student Technology Leadership Program) State Championships in Lexington at Rupp Arena. During this event, over 5,500 students across the state competed in events ranging from computer networking, newscasting, to video gaming. These students are Allie Logsdon, Tristan Coke, Jeremy Wells, Josh Kirk, Josh Blanford, Griffin Whitmer, Desmond Duel, Draven Emery, Jonathan Rickard, and Anthony Free.

Over the course of the event, Mclean County was able to finish as runner up in Mapping, 2 top 10 finishes in the state in the areas of Cinemania and music composition, and 12th position in storytelling. McLean County had also made it to the final rounds of judging in the areas of Digital Photography and Technical Writing. You can find most of the students work at the following link.
